Cassidy Family Memorabilia
Memorial Cross - Wellington Cassidy 1915
Awarded by the Canadian Armed Forces to Edward Wellington Cassidy in 1915 for his service in the In 64th Battalion, Canadian Infantry. From his service record we learn that he joined the service Sept. 27, 1915 and died in Halifax Dec. 22, 1915 at age 21. [We're confident that "Peenby S. Cassidy" in the service record is a typo and should be "Ruby S. Cassidy".]
The Memorial Cross was awarded to the mother of the deceased WW I service member. This link has a full explanation of the medal. Wellington's Medal Card in page 13 of his service record..
