Memorial Cross – Wellington Cassidy<\/span> 1915<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Awarded by the Canadian Armed Forces to\u00a0Edward Wellington Cassidy<\/a>\u00a0in 1915 for his service in the In 64th Battalion, Canadian Infantry.<\/span>\u00a0From his\u00a0service record<\/a>\u00a0we learn that he joined the service Sept. 27, 1915 and died in Halifax Dec. 22, 1915 at age 21. [We’re confident that “Peenby S. Cassidy” in the service record is a typo and should be “Ruby S. Cassidy”.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Memorial Cross was awarded to the mother of the deceased WW I service member. This link<\/a> has a full explanation of the medal. Wellington’s Medal Card in page 13 of his service record..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Order of Canada – Stan Cassidy<\/span> 1987<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Awarded by the Government of Canada to\u00a0Stanley Bernard Cassidy<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>1987 for his life-long work in rehabilitation. The Order of Canada is the country’s highest distinction for its citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STANLEY BERNARD CASSIDY, C.M.
Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Forest Hill Rehabilitation Centre for the physically disabled in Fredericton, New Brunswick, he has been, for over 30 years, a staunch advocate of the right of disabled persons to fulfill a useful role in the workplace and in society.
