Shared Note: - George spent his life as a Master Mariner in the B.C. coastal merchant shipping fleet. During WW II he served in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve (RCNR), primarily on the west coast.
The picture of George is from a postcard dated Feb. 11, 1941. It reads:
Dear Jane [Cassidy], This is a picture of your Uncle George in uniform. Isn't he a gorgeous looking "bird." Just like a peacock. He goes off on a boat which will be stationed outside of Vancouver.
