Shared Note: - Ellsworth was a carpenter by trade. In the winter of 1896, when his trade was slow, he went to cut ice in Providence. He fell through the ice and drowned.
Bob Travis noted that Ellsworth's Rhode Island death certificate says he was age 38 and he died Oct. 25, 1998 not 1896 as we previously thought. If in fact her was age 38, then his year of birth would have been 1860 not 1863. Until we check his birth records, we'll keep his birth date as 1863.
An interesting observation is that if Ellsworth died on October 25, it is highly unlikely that is was from falling through the ice. Lakes would not be frozen over in Rhode Island in late October.
