Shared Note: - Norma Doane, grandaughter of William and Vasty, wrote in a letter to Mildred Cassidy dated August 25, 1980: "My grandparents moved to Needham, Mass. 30 years before his [William's] death. He did carpenter work and they had a small home a nd farm. My father [Willard Doane] worked with him and eventually my father became one of Needham's leading builders. My grandfather loved Canadian mints, and I could always count on one when I went to visit them. My grandmother [Vasty] often told a story about one evening when my grandfather [William] working on a church in Boston and he did not return from work. She went to look for him at the job site and then to the home of another workman. She was told that he had fallen from high up and had been taken to Boston City Hospital. She took off for the hospital where she found him lying for dead outside the morgue. But by then he had regained consciousness, so she got him up and out of there and took him home."
