John Lane was born at home at 35 Washburn Ave., Wellesley Hills, Mass. He was the only child of Andrew and Christine Lane. He died at the Newton/Wellesley Hospital at 12:29 AM from a heart attack. His son Bucky was with him. He was burie d with his father and mother in the family plot in St. Mary's cemetary in Needham, Mass.
John lived all his life in Wellesley, though at differrent addresses. Some of the addresses were: 35 Washburn Ave., 254 Worcester St., 10 Rice St. Brook St. Farms, 6 Pine Tree Rd., 18 Forest St., , 34 Cedar St. John and Janet purchased 34 Cedar St. in 1946 where they lived until his death. He worked for the Deils Coal Co. and around 1916 he took a job at the Post Office in Wellesley Hills. He hauled the mail between the Post Offices and the Boston & Albany RR station. He was also a special delivery messanger from 1919 to 1947. John was well known in the town of Wellsley. He was quite a kidder and always playing jokes on people. He was the kind of man to do anyone a favor if asked.
John also played the piano for relaxation. But he never took a piano lesson in his life. Many times John and Walter McDermott would play for hours on Sunday afternoon.
