Shared Note	Matthew's Uncle Richard asked him to come to Boston, Mass. There, he delivered milk by horse and wagon to the Piper home where he met Roberta. Matthew eventually went to work in Roberta's father's carpenter shop. Matthew moved his family to Norton, N.B. from Boston in 1907. One year later he bought a farm on Cassidy Lake. Around 1925 he moved back to Norton. While at Cassidy Lake, he continued to do carpenter work, even returning to Boston for two winters to work again with Roberta's father. Matthew was very stern but lovable, always walked straight and proud. Evelyn Haeber recalls that "Grampy Cassidy would never let anyone take his picture. I was always able to get pictures of Grampy because I knew how to flatter him into letting me take it." Earl Gillcash recalls Matthew telling of moving his family from Boston to Saint John in 1907 by sailing ship. It was a very rough passage due to a big storm in the Bay of Fundy. Just about everyone on board was seasick, including my grandmother Roberta who was nursing my mother Ruth Evelyn.
Note	In August 2012 the Kings County Record republished the following: Hillsdale - Aug. 25, 1916: Work on the school house was commenced today. The old floor has been taken up and a new hardwood floor takes its place. There will also be new seats put in and other repairs which, when completed, will make our school house second to none in the county. The work is being done by Matthew Cassidy of Clover Hill.
