John Murdoch was born ABT 1824 in County Antrim, Ireland and died in St. Stephen, NB, 3 February 1867. Elizabeth Shearer was born ABT 1812, also in County Antrim, Ireland and died in St. Stephen, NB, 25 December 1890.
The 1871 Census for St. Stephen, Charlotte County, NB, has Mary Susan Murdock as: age 15, born ABT 1856 in New Brunswick, religion Church of Scotland; also, Elizabeth Murdock age 58, widowed, Martha Murdock age 26, Sarah J. Murdock age 23, James age 18, Andrew age 15, Martha Sherar age 60 widowed.
The family has a book belonging to Mary Susan Murdoch. The book, Glory of the Immortal Life by J. E. Stebbins was published in Norwich, Conn. by J. H. Jewett & Co. 1873. The book is inscribed with Mary Susan Murdoch’s name. See photos.

When Mary Susan died in 1896, her sister Sarah Jane Murdoch moved to Saint John to help William with the children. Sarah Jane was a widow. Her husband George Albert Rogers died in 1874 age 24. Their only child Charles Frederick Rogers died in 1881 age 7. Sarah Jane Murdoch died 21 March 1906 age 56.
